Das Efx está compuesto por Skoob (Willie Hines) y Dre (Andre Weston, también conocido como Krazy Drayz) . Este dúo se conformo cuando Skoob y Dre asistían a la Universidad de Virginia (Virginia State University), en 1988 Das Efx en una demostración de talento (batalla de freestyle), en donde estaba en grupo EPMD fijo sus ojos en ellos ya qué demostraron un gran talento como Mc´s. después de un tiempo Das Efx convence a EPMD para qué les ayude a grabar su primer trabajo musical con el resultado del álbum titulado Dead Serious 1992, con el cual no tardaron en hacer presencia dentro de el medio del hip-hop, gracias a sus letras punzantes en donde adaptaron un termino para el términos de las palabras como el “ IGGITY ” el cual es característico de este dúo. Desde sus comienzos en 1992 a 1993, sus términos fueron adoptados por otros artitas del medio como Lords of the Underground, Fu-Schnickens y Kris Kross entre otros.
